Miscelanneous

~Arabs introduced a variety of crops, herbs, and fruits to spain.  Most notable is the orange.

~Vines were very common and as a result wine was prevalent.  Muslims are prohibited to drink.
The king of Serville is Al- Mutamid, he is also a poet.  He writes:

As I was passing by
A vine, its tendrils tugged my sleeve.
'Do you design, said I,
"My body so to grieve?'

'Why do you pass, the vine
Replied, 'and never greeting make?
It took this blood of mine
Your thirsting bones to slake."

~This is further emphasizing the lack of secularization in the Moorish Renaissance. The king
stays devoted to Islam by not drinking the wine.

~Biggest accomplishment was making noria.  It is a water wheel.  Scoops up water and allows it to
flow.  Makes the water more accessible.
